Below is his scholarship presentation speech:
“It is my privilege on behalf of the Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi to celebrate the extraordinary achievements and the promising future of one exceptional individual, Aireonna Brewer.
It is with great pleasure and profound admiration that we present her with the Chief Leonard “Blackie” Lampman Scholarship.
This scholarship is a testament to Chief Lampman’s unwavering belief in the power of education and his dedication to fostering the growth of Abenaki youth.
Aireonna, as you embark on your educational journey at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design, we are confident that your passion for your Abenaki heritage and your deep connection to nature will serve as a wellspring of inspiration.
Your studies will not only allow you to hone your artistic talents, but also equip you with the knowledge and skills to advocate for environmental stewardship and cultural preservation.
Congratulations and best wishes.”
